!ADIOS FEEDING TUBES!

Our girls first pictures without tubes (Lola on the bottom and Lily on the top) on their 3rd week birthday! Both girls are doing fantastic with their bottle feedings. Lily was the first to reach 24 hrs. with all feedings by bottle and had her feeding tube pulled at 9 a.m. this morning. Not to be outdone, Lola reached her 24 hrs. at 3 p.m. today and had her tube pulled as well. Everyone keeps saying how great they are doing and we feel so fortunate!
Lily weighs 4 lbs. 5. 2 oz. and Lola weighs 4 lbs. 9.9 oz.
I fed both girls for four different feedings today. It is so great to be able to do that! They are improving almost every feeding with their efficiency/coordination. Lola still likes to snooze, but will finish almost her entire bottle before she crashes now. Lily just goes right to work and continues to look very intent and serious while eating.
I believe the girls will still have to be >= 36 weeks gestation prior to discharge, no matter what is going on. But, we feel like we are well on our way and are so thankful for the excellent care they have received!
Love, Mel
